Children WHAT?
ChildrenLX is a blog about discovering and creating the right learning experience for our children – with or without technology. Yes, you read that right. And maybe you read the words, but they don’t make sense yet. That’s totally fine. Let me explain.
We all want the best for our children. We want them to grow and keep the joy and curiosity of those first years when they are so hungry for knowledge and development – when their faces lit up every time they learned a new skill! There’s so much creativity in simple play, when concentration, persistence, and practice are needed for each new step. Every second of our children’s awake time is a learning experience.
What can we do to keep these pure qualities when they grow older? What happens when our children go to school? How is their learning experience affected by technology? How can we design technology that considers a child’s journey and empowers their experience?
One of my parenting nightmares is that my children will become bored with learning. Our oldest daughter turned three years old last week, and my urge to protect her from the educational system and technology is getting stronger.
Wait a minute, what about all the good stuff I believed about technology? I even chose to build a career in the EdTech industry. Was I that wrong?
One day it struck me – this inner conflict is my strength, my superpower! Being a parent and an EdTech specialist puts me in a unique position to choose wisely and be part of educational projects, products, and services that I will feel comfortable for our children to use. More than that, I can write a blog about my research and share my findings with other parents and EdTech professionals.
This blog will focus on understanding the basics of learning (including research in neuroscience, psychology, behavioral analysis, and so on), product design for children, and parenting dilemmas.
Join me on my journey. I promise we’ll have some fun!
